Still coming down from Christmas...
Christmas reminds me a lot like all the preparations for a wedding. Granted a wedding took a year to plan and it was a much larger affair I really have resigned myself into thinking that the Christmas holiday is the yearly equivalent of planning for a wedding.
For me the Christmas season kicks off the day after Thanksgiving. It's a day full of preparation and a big dinner. For the wedding planning, it officially kicked off with the engagement. There was lots of preparation and most people eat a big fancy dinner prior to popping the question.
For the wedding there is TONS of things to prepare. You have the rehearsal dinner, reception, the church, the officiate, the rings, the DJ, the list just goes on and on. For Christmas you have to make lists, do all the shopping, prepare the dinners, wrap the gifts, this list also goes on and on.
For the wedding you have a budget that you have to stick to. For Christmas most people seem to make some sort of budget.
It seems like while you are planning your wedding all your friends are getting married also. During the Christmas season there are lots of little parties to attend.
For the wedding the day before you get married you typically have a rehearsal and a rehearsal dinner. For Christmas you have Christmas Eve. Lots of people have some type of gathering on Christmas Eve but it definitely isn't the main event.
For the wedding you have the 'big day' and you get married and have a reception where you get to eat and socialize. For Christmas you open presents and lots of times have a big dinner and then get to socialize.
Then for both Christmas and the wedding the day is over and you feel kind of this empty pit in your stomach....

I was in a post-Christmas haze today. I just didn't feel good or bad. Just felt bored and empty. Blahhhhhh.
