When deadly force is justified | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star
Uggg, that story just pisses me off to no end. I'll give you a brief synopsis of what happened. A convicted sex offender broke into a house and was found in the 17 year old daughters room wearing NOTHING but a mask and latex gloves. He also had a rope and condoms. The dad heard his daughters scream and proceeded to kill the intruder (possibly unintentionally). Then the Star writes this stupid ass anti-gun article when a gun wasn't even in play.If you know me you know that I like guns. I own guns, I have a license to carry, and I feel that the 2nd Amendment is the cornerstone that sets us apart from the rest of the world. This is even more evident following my two weeks in the United Kingdom.
I'm also a big supporter of something called 'Castle Doctrine' which is the self-defense laws in question in the article. Castle Doctrine states that your home is your castle and you can use deadly force to protect it. Don't think that for one second that if someone is in my home that I would blink an eye about using deadly force. Sadly, since the economy has went to shit, it *appears* that there has been an increase in home invasions and car-jackings. Whether or not this is a true correlation or an anomoly it doesn't matter. The economy is scary, crime is and will increase, the liberals want to restrict my access to guns and then they begin to question their use in protection of the home. Seriously could we have any more contridictions here?
So now you know that I'm the big bad gun guy. I'm a lifetime member of the NRA. I think most politicians suck and I vote 75+% of the time purely on the 2nd Amendment.
Regardless of where your politics lie, what your opinion is on gun ownership, do you serioiusly not feel that you should be able to defend your family without question or fear of prosecution? I know that any person that illegally enters my home is not there to award me my Publisher Clearing House check, they are there for no good.

AGREED!
I agree with you. I don't own a gun, never held a gun. My husband has a few guns. That is our right.
In Florida, for instance, a man shot his unarmed neighbor after the two exchanged heated words at the man's front door.
In Texas, a man killed two unarmed people who had broken into his neighbor's home.
^^^ That first example isn't even valid... the guy wasn't breaking in, he knew him, and they were just arguing. The second one... I believe the man was right to kill the intruders, and yeah, they happened to be unarmed, but he didn't know that (presumably). If someone is breaking into your house, like you said, it isn't to do anything good.
I don't like guns, they freak me out. I've been at too many parties where a gun has been brought out by drunk fools. I always immedietly leave. I'm not about to get shot because someone is a moron. If you are well-trained, licensed and keep the gun locked up if there are children, I have no problem with people having guns, I just don't choose to have one.
Ideally, it would be awesome if there were no guns out on the streets, but that isn't possible, so I believe you have the right to defend yourself. I've heard the statistics that people are more likely to die from their own gun trying to defend themselves than from the intruder and his gun, but when I researched it, I found that isn't true and is just a form of propaganda for gun control people.
I consider myself a liberal and i support the 2nd Amendment. We have guns in our house, although they aren't loaded and if someone decided to break into our house, then i agree with you that i have the right to protect my home and self.
agree!
Steve is looking into us taking a class on gun safety/shooting and possibly purchasing a gun for our house. I see nothing wrong with 'castle' laws or concealed carry ones, why should I be punished for saving myself/property or others? I'd be saving the legal system some work by dealing with those type of people.
