  • Hopefully everyone had a good day and a nice night.  My day was ok until about 2pm today.  That's when I was sitting in the dentists chair with my phone in my hand trying to post on Xanga about how much I hated dentists when the dentist came in and put the pre-shot numbing stuff in my mouth.  I was like 'oh crap' it's on.

As most of you know I have a huge phobia of shots....and I hate the dentist so it's like a combination of two of my worst fears.  For years from the time I was 17 until 20 or so, I had reoccurring nightmares about my teeth being knocked out, falling out, or destroyed in some way, shape or form.  It sucked terribly bad, but thankfully those have basically went away, but anytime I get my teeth worked on I just have flashbacks to those dreams.  The shots...enough said...I hate them, I pass out, get sick to my stomach, and I avoid them at all costs.

Ok, back to today.  I was having an onlay put on one of my lower teeth since I've worn away all 4 of the cusps somehow. Since there was going to be lots of grinding they wanted to numb me first...that's fine.  The first shot was semi-ok for a shot.  It didn't hurt too bad, and the worst part was the dentist working the injection into my jaw or wherever it was that he shot me.

Unfortunately, once they started working that one shot wasn't enough and I needed a couple more.  These were different and I guess they went directly into the root of the tooth.  Once again, it still wasn't enough and I was feeling the drilling and it must have been a combination of me in a cold sweat and looking like I just went for a run and my heart going a thousand miles an hour.  They offered me some nitrous and I gladly accepted.  I figured what the hell, if it does anything, it will at least calm me down a little bit.  The nitrous did calm me down, and the dentist was ever so nice and turned it up and basically knocked me out while he did the rest of his work.  I was out something fierce for the remaining drilling and cutting.  I remember waking up and being really pissed that I couldn't see anything.  I was like what the hell, they put blinders on me or something?  Then I realized that I had to open my eyes.  Once I opened them it was only a few minutes until my onlay was being milled and that meant that my procedure was about over.

Once my onlay was finished being manufactured they tried it on.  When I opened my mouth I was like "holy shit", my jaw hurt so bad!  I guess that was from all those shots.  After everything was wrapped up the dentist offered pain med for me.  I didn't really want any, and I asked him if just taking advil was enough, and he said it might be, but he felt better if he wrote me a script just incase I needed. it.  I took that as a yes it will hurt, so I said yes to the script.  I picked up my prescription at Amanda's store and then came home and slept until about 9:50 or so.

It's now late and I'm going to go to bed and read.  'Night.
