  • Wow, I went on Xanga limbo for a couple of days, sorry about that.  I'll start with a little recap and then go on from there.  So, sit back, consume some caffeine, and start reading...

Friday:  Today was class, big surprise there.  It was a short day.  After class I played a bunch of Tiger Woods.  We went out to eat someplace but for the life of me I have no idea where.  I can't believe that I've already forgotten, but like I said before, eating out is just meaningless now.  I remember that I ate lunch at Applebee's.  OH, I remember now.  I had my days mixed up.  Friday evening we went to a guy's place in our class for a bbq.  There was perhaps a dozen or so of us there.  We had some steak and other good stuff.  I brought lots of appetizers and had people trying new stuff.  You would be amazed how many people didn't want to try cheese and apples, but after much insistence they ended up like it.  On a dare three of use ate the following:  Apple, caramel, turkey, cheese, cotton candy, with grapes.  Yes, you did read that right, and yes it was all at the same time, and no it really wasn't that bad.  I cut out of there fairly early since I had to get up early the next morning.

Saturday:  Boy did I ever have to get up early!  When you get up at 3am it's early no matter what time you go to bed.  I got around and did my volunteer hours at the road march.  My mandatory 24 hours are now history and I can check another box in my finish this class list.  After the little event I came back and was going to try sleeping for a little bit, but the phone kept ringing and I didn't get to sleep like I wanted to.  I think that I end up with perhaps a single broken hour of sleep.

Around 1 or so it was suggested that I join T golfing and I agreed.  I don't have any clubs down here so I was going to have to rent a set.  I went get something to eat real quick at the food court at the PX before our tee time.  While I was there I ran into another guy from my class and invited him, and he asked one more person so we had a foursome for the course.  We got the golf course and I paid and hit some balls at the driving range.

I'll interrupt this for a second here.  I haven't golfed since probably '99 or so.  I used to golf quite a bit and enjoyed it.  I was a lot younger, think middle school age, but stopped for the most part when I got to high school.  I think that the main reason that I stopped was the cost of playing.   Most of my fellow managers at work golf and I had intended on buying a set of clubs at home and joining them when they play.  I kind of wanted to buy a set down here but just never got around to it.  Ok, back to the weekend.

We played our golf and I had a pretty good time.  I played like crap but had fun nonetheless.  We had one helluva storm just as we finished the front 9 and we called it a day.  After we came home I cleaned up and we got some dinner at Applebee's.  Dinner was pretty good, I broke down and ate nice and fatty and it was good.  It was pretty much my first "don't give a damn" cheating since I've been dieting.  I thought about seeing Clerks II after dinner, but I decided to come back and go to bed fairly early, I think that it was a good idea.

Sunday:  On this day I broke down and decided that I wanted to hasten purchasing golf clubs.  I went all over town looking for clubs (and this town has a lot of golf shops) and I found a supposedly pro grade set for half price so I plunked down the money for it.  Granted I wanted to wait until I got home, but I went ahead and got them.  After I got home, T and I finished our 9 holes plus another 9.  It was a good time, much more relaxed than the frist day.  I guess that all the beer that we threw down helped with the relaxing part.  We definitely weren't playing to keep score, just having fun and that was a good time.  I got a little sun and shockingly didn't use sunscreen.

After golf we got dinner at O'Charleys (thanks for the suggestion Amanda) then I came home and screwed around and went to bed.  Amanda and I had fun looking at housing floor plans online.  Since it's now about August 1st we are starting to house hunt.  I also need to figure out how to go about a VA home loan, so I'll be busy once I get home.

Today (Monday):  Nothing too exciting.  Played 9 holes of golf after class.  Ate Subway for dinner and watched Shark Week on The Discover Channel.  I love the Discovery Channel and Shark Week this year so far has been second to none.  Sharks are neat as hell and absolutely amazing creatures.  Many of the shows today have been focusing on our mistakes from the 50's-early 90's with hunting them.  We were just treated the species terribly and many species are hurting.  I'm far from an uber-environmentalists, but if we were to lose the Great Whites for example it would be such a shame.

Alright, I'm going to call it a night and go to bed, have a good Tuesday everyone!

  • it's either a stress fracture, strained ligament, or shinsplints.  The doctor was such a help.  So we're trying a few things this week to try to determine which it is.

  • That's an awesome profile pic...roller coaster??

    It's so hot outside...I can't believe you're golfing!!
