So boring...so boring... This town is so boring. I swear, I'm about ready to pull my eyelashes out just to give me something to do. Granted this town is pretty damn boring, but I think that the main problem is just that I am so sick of being here. It has been a reoccurring theme on here lately, about my disdain about being away from home, but it's eating me, thankfully I am just a little bit shy of the one month mark. One month left to go and then I get to go back to good old Indiana. Any of you Indiana people that think Indiana is boring...you are SO wrong. Georgia is the center of the boring universe.
This weekend was so utterly boring that it is disgusting. Back in the real world I like lazy weekends, but let me tell you what...a lazy weekend just doesn't apply when you are in a hotel room away from home. Ok, I better get off this bandwagon before I go from bored to depressed and that sure wouldn't help matters any!
I have no plans the rest of the evening, I am probably going to go eat some place with T, but that's about it. For the last two evenings I fell asleep watching a movie, I wonder if I'll be able to finish a movie tonight? Unfortunately, tomorrow isn't a sleep in day...it's back to the grind. I have two more classroom weeks left, a week of mapex (still a big mystery) and then a week in the field. Then it's a week of out processing and graduation. It's finally ticking by.
I'm thinking about taking a couple days off when I get back to home. I have two weeks to go back to work, but I'm afraid that if I don't go to work right away I'll just be bored at home. Last summer when I got back I wanted to work for a couple weeks and then take a week off and go camping, but that didn't happen...I'm just afraid it would happen again this year. I'll probably be able to just take a Friday and Monday off and make a 4 day weekend to do something. I'd like to go camping or something with some friends since I haven't seen anyone since my wedding.
I'm just afraid that I'll go back to work and end up getting really busy and not have time. Hopefully I won't let that happen and everything will be ok.
It looks like I'll be going to Red Lobster tonight. Sounds good, I could use some seafood.
My ride is here...to be continued.
Continued, 8:55pmWell, dinner was pretty good. I ate something remotely healthy at Red Lobster, so that was an improvement over my typical Alfredo, fried, or broiled meal that I usually eat there. I ended up eating grilled salmon, steamed broccoli, and a salad. It was pretty good, but I wish that I would have gotten a full portion of salmon since it was pretty darn good, and I was still slightly hungry afterwards. I'm snacking on goldfish right now, and I think to say that they have been my favorite snack the last week or so.
What does everyone think about what is going on in the Middle East? It hopefully isn't a sign of an all out war between Israel and the other countries in the area. The situation right now is so delicate that it is hard to predict how it will end, but it does not seem to be going in the right direction. I can't blame Israel for being pretty pissed after having their soldiers kidnapped and then having rockets fired at them. They do seem to be holding back as of right now, and although there has been some innocent life lost, they have been fairly restrictive as to what they are bombing. Last that I heard was that there was something in the range of 25,000 Americans inside of Lebanon. That is going to be a huge undertaking for the US Military to evacuate that many people, especially since the airport is unusable and we will have to be using helicopters to get them out.
All right, I have a little bit of time left before I go to bed for the night, so I'm going to go and get ready for bed. Hopefully everyone had a good weekend and more importantly I hope that no one had as boring a weekend as I did!

I can SO sympathize with you. I used to be a flight attendant and the airline I worked for hired a bunch of flight attendants through Cincinnati...yet, we didn't fly out of Cincinnati except on Sunday flights to the Cayman Islands. What they would do is bus a crew of us up to Indianapolis in a mini van, someone would buy some beer, and we'd all be plastered by the time we got to Indianapolis. Then, we'd check into the hotel and hang out the rest of the afternoon, sleep, be up for our first flight at 6 that went from Indy to Philadelphia. We'd fly another leg from Philly to Hartford, Connecticut then turn around and fly right back to Philly, where we'd usually have lunch at Philly's crappy airport and then fly back to Indianapolis to our hotel. We'd do the same thing every day for a week to two weeks, sleeping in the hotel room every night. It was kind of maddening being THAT close to Cincinnati and not being able to sleep in our own beds every night. Sleeping in a hotel room for long periods of time makes you realize just how much stuff you have at home to keep you entertained.
Our weekend has been pretty boring, too...just dealing with the heat and car-shopping! Oh yeah...and about the flights...I've had a lot of luck with the site that YOU gave me the link to (the ITA software one). I also make sure to look for Tuesday through Thursday flights, shop for flights on holidays (some airlines lower fares on holiday weekends so it's a good deal for families getting together on a holiday to plan for future trips while everyone is together). Believe it or not, we're flying Delta TO Tulsa and back...it's nearly unheard of that Delta would have the lowest rates, but I've actually been very pleasantly surprised by Delta lately. I used to not even check their website because they were so expensive, but I got lucky and happened to find some $99 one-way fares through them. I just research my butt off and experiment with different airports and different options until I find the cheapest options. The big key is to not sell yourself to one airline - check one-way prices. I've always gotten the best deals buying 2 one-way tickets (sometimes through different airlines) rather than buying a round-trip ticket. I purchased everything through Delta buying one-way fares...and it saved us about $200.
What am I thinking about the war in the middle East? I had a long talk with Blaine, today, about this...because I remember once upon a time, I had NO idea why we were in Iraq...but I'd been listening to all these people say it was over oil and all this other crap and it didn't add up to me that there was a different reason every other day as to why we were there. I researched it myself and it made a lot more sense to me (and then I shared all my research on one of the last posts I did). Blaine thinks I'm the world's biggest nerd because once I become fascinated with learning about something, I won't give up until I'm damn near expert on the subject - lol. The thing is, I understand the war in Iraq, now, but I really had no idea what was going on with Israel. Blaine started explaining to me some of the history there...and now I'm becoming fascinated with learning more about Islam and Judaeism and how they contribute to this war, as well as all the other incidences that led up to the war. They have all this info on the news every night, but it's lost on someone like me that doesn't understand the violent history of the middle east and why it is the way it is. All I ever knew was that it had something to do with religion...I don't have much of an opinion on it, yet...but I'll be learning about it so I can be informed before I open my mouth on it. Blaine said that Israel could really kick some ass...but he thinks they are holding back and not doing near as much damage as they are capable of because of long-standing efforts to bring peace to the region. I'm just wondering what's going to happen, and if we're going to end up getting involved. From what I've been told, if Iran gets involved, we're probably going to end up involved because Iran has been pissing us off for a long time, anyway. I guess we'll have to wait and see....and in the meantime, I'll have my nose buried in books and online. I'm still learning!
I was in Georgia like 3 months ago and I love it! I had so much fun in Atlanta and I want to go back soon!
How long have you been in the army? Is that why you are in Georgia?
RYC: I don't ever want to settle, but some days I wonder if I might have to..you're lucky you found yours already...it's taunting to be single sometime!
